The Tebow issue...

I am sure this title will capture the attention of several readers possibly even attract comments. I am all about controversy but let's not be misguided. If you feel it is directed to you....then my job in making you think is done. After all the posts and news comments about Tim Tebow I feel compelled to write this Blog!

I will pose several questions:

1. Why do people hate him so much?
2. Why do people feel the need to wish him failure or harm?
3. Why is it that a young man that has never been negative been treated in the public media with such negativity?
4. Why does he make you so damn uncomfortable?

I think I have the answer!!!! To all of these questions! LOL yes I think I do.

First allow me to say. I do not think Tim Tebow is the best QB in the NFL....I don't think he feels that way either!!! He knows that he has a weird or strange pass and he has been training to work on it per the suggestion of his coach. FYI he works on his own really hard to make sure he gets better. I am sure if this does not happen he will take it and move on or explore other avenues. Also I do not think he feels he is the only player out on the field. He never takes all the credit and always admits it is the team not just him.

Back to the questions!!

1. I think people say they "hate" him because it is easier than really understanding who he really is... think about it "hate" is a word associated with death and if you even go as far to change that and say, "I do not like him". DO you know him? I think not! I would suggest maybe you take a chance and do some research. He has not been accused of rape, animal abuse, drugs, murder, assault, or any other felony. For some reason people(not all) seem to forgive and make excuses for people; bad childhood, under privilege, socioeconomic situations, addiction, poor choices, and the list goes on.

So exactly why do people hate Tebow well I think he makes you feel uncomfortable!!
He makes Christians nervous because maybe they are not living their belief. He makes others nervous because it makes you think "am I on the correct path". Now I understand we all are sinners and it is a constant battle. I also know it is easier to ignore the future and the fact we all answer for and to someone, and this could scare the heck out of people. Better to live in the dark.

Tebow is a constant reminder on those Sunday afternoons as people watch TV the short falls we all face if we really are honest. Now if you are saying this is not true then you might want to really reflect. Because hating is wrong.

BTW- I honestly do not believe God had anything to do with his season other than the fact that God gave him the ability to play football. Life is a series of choices. These men go on the field and make a choice to play with all they have, and some days they win and some days the do not. God only has on team he roots for that would be US. (us not United States LOL)

2. I will never understand this question. When I am at a football game of course I would like my team to win DUH!! I can even recognize a great play when it is not from my team.  I do not cheer with a giddy smile I clap and give a compliment. I personally like a game to be a challenge and when it is close that makes it worth the time.

I remember when Tebow was playing in college. It was a big game towards the end of his career. I saw posts on FB hoping he would get injured and never be able to play again. WOW I was shocked. HELLO DA( I am not saying District Attorney) he was just a kid in school playing a game.
Why?  Why would you want a young man to be injured so that he never plays again? That is cruel. What if he was your son? How would you feel if one day your child or grandchild had people wishing this... REALLY come on now!!! Have you no soul?

I think wishing failure or harm is just mean and rude. You should be ashamed. I can only say evil is this answer.

3.Tebow is one of the most positive people I have seen in the world of corrupt and trashy reality TV stars(I use that term lightly).
He helps kids, he flew a kid who was injured to watch a game. This is who he is. He has never been any different. I understand if you have not lived in FL that this might seem like a show but honestly he is a really giving person. He has always been this way.

The media has placed him in every home, on every sports channel, and on all the talk radio stations. I think it is because of his faith it make people nervous. People usually displace their fears through cruel words in the hope that some how they look better than what they see in the mirror. Have you looked in the mirror today?

I am originally from TN. I remember all the mean stuff people said about Peyton Manning. Granted yes he is and was a better QB(read the stats). He also was and is a really nice guy. People who had never met him would say mean things and be so rude. I know many people who have met him over the years and nothing but kind words and positive praise have ever been the result. I also know a few people who have met Tim and the result was the same. Please remember that the media, not all venues, but many have an agenda. Don't pplay the corrupt game.

So now #4 He makes you think! You could not be that rude.  Hating a person because they are having success. Well think the next time your compny or school has had an oustanding year and people start hoping that your company fails and your school drops to the bottom. You are hoping people lose their jobs? Really!!! You are hoping a large group of students fail. It is like hating an entire college. The college is full of kids!!! Surely you do not hate kids. TEAMS are full of people. To say you are not a fan is fine. To hate, wish ill will, is to hope that families are in ruin. Many of these players have families. Why would you not want the best for all! I certainly hope any person that has a talent is able to live the dream with all the wonderful possibilities.

Please remember we the public have a responsibility to teach our young children not to attack the nice people of the world. We need to set an example. I know Tim is a great role model. Think of the example our kids really have. It is slim pickings!!!

Pittsburgh, Hello your QB he is classy. Farve Hello no one wants to see that!! Michael Vic Dog killer I realize you served your time. The list goes on and people would rather take down someone who has always lived his life in a positive manner. I do not get that at all. I completely understand forgiveness and some of these listed above would fall into that totally.

Tim Tebow is just a kid, a young man playing a game for a living. He of all people knows this is not the most important part of life. He knows this is a gift a privilage. Isn't that what we tell young athletes in school playing sports is a  privilage not a right.

I certainly hope that if you have made it this far that you consider your true reasons for the opinions of a man that chances are you have never met. If you have a legitimate reason then fine! But if it is conjecture, then really you need to educate yourself do some research. I have faith in the humanity that seeks truth!!!

Ok the challenge is still on. I am going to train for a 5K and then slowly build to a Half Marathon. Baby steps! LOL

All I can hope is that we all really start thinking about the words we say and how they make sense.

Until next week,
Over and out!!!

  1. I completely agree with your whole perspective on this situation. People are bashing Tebow while he is just a person, a human being like us. I agree that we need to really think about the words we choose, and give legitimate reasons for our opinion and stop basing it off of how others feel and what we hear.

Good luck with your 5K! :D
