I needed to take a break from the Internet. I disabled my Facebook and just read books!!! Getting back to the basics. Nothing extra special just a break. I set a Lenten goal to run/walk 3 miles a day that equaled 120 miles. I did it! Great success. I am now running and cross training so mentally I am on task.
I plan on writing once a month, every week was a bit much considering the busy schedule and lack of really interesting comments. Forcing thoughts is not interesting and you can be caught in a boring rant of nothing.
So with that being said. I will sign off. Get my thoughts together and write soon. I may write again this month just to get back in the hang of it!
My main point today is when life seems overwhelming! Get back to BASICS write a real letter, read a book. Turn off all social media... well the phone is necessary and emails for work..just clear your mind and remember we survived well before all the fast paced technology!!!
Happy relaxing.....

Kids.......
I think we forget that kids really are no different from back in....470 BC....
“Our youth now love luxury. They have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for their elders and love chatter in place of exercise; they no longer rise when elders enter the room; they contradict their parents, chatter before company; gobble up their food and tyrannize their teachers.”
― Socrates
How does this apply today?
1. ipods, iphones, laptops, nooks, kindles, cellphones, cars, TVs, video games, and much more.....
2. Hats in public building, opening doors for women, please and thank you, see what you can come up with....
3. disrespect is still the same, elders still the same.
4. They still talk to much in school.
5. The probably were never taught to rise when elders enter a room or when women leave or come to the table.
6. Of course they contridict their parents....
7. They chatter all the time..ugh
8. They eat like pigs.
9. THEY DRIVE TEACHERS NUTS!!!!!!! LOL
So my dear friends why do we as adults really complain? What is the difference from 470 BC to 2012?
I imagine Socrates was possibly asking the same question to his grandparents or teachers.
I as a teacher sometimes seem to forget that there really is no difference from students today and the past, as in my schools days...LOL There were kids that were rude and kids that were not rude. There were kids that cared about school and kids that did not care if they passed or failed. I think as adults we grow to expect kids to be more than what they truly are which is kind of crazy considering....(yes here it goes)...
Did you know that the front lobe of the brain does not develop until ages 18-22..I did a brain study when I first started teaching...yes I am a nerd.
The front lobe is responsible for the ability to think about the consequences of your actions. This would explain the reason why kids make dumb mistakes..LOL Now it should also be a wake up call to the adults of the world. We expect kids to think before acting...but they do not have the abilty to really process at the time of the decision, so it makes us(the adults) frustrated and the kids(equally) frustrated because once they make a mistake they cannot explain the WHY....
Why did you do this...uhhh....I don't know......We get so angry because they say those three words that will to this day and years to come drive evey parent every teacher on the planet NUTS!!!!! I DON'T KNOW!!!!!!!
I suppose this is all I have to say sorry it is a couple of days late. I was not moved to write and I refuse to force a topic... So give those little precious kids a small break. Just explain it is because their brain has not finished growing and therefore they must really be careful...
Oh and if you are wondering why some adults are still acting the way a 22 and under acts....Well if you drink or do drugs excessively at that early age it causes a delay in development of the brain and can do damage that will not allow for that area to grow. This could explain why repeat offenders go back to jail and why some people never grow up. Just a thought... Keeping it real!!!
Have a great week

The Tebow issue...
I am sure this title will capture the attention of several readers possibly even attract comments. I am all about controversy but let's not be misguided. If you feel it is directed to you....then my job in making you think is done. After all the posts and news comments about Tim Tebow I feel compelled to write this Blog!
I will pose several questions:
1. Why do people hate him so much?
2. Why do people feel the need to wish him failure or harm?
3. Why is it that a young man that has never been negative been treated in the public media with such negativity?
4. Why does he make you so damn uncomfortable?
I think I have the answer!!!! To all of these questions! LOL yes I think I do.
First allow me to say. I do not think Tim Tebow is the best QB in the NFL....I don't think he feels that way either!!! He knows that he has a weird or strange pass and he has been training to work on it per the suggestion of his coach. FYI he works on his own really hard to make sure he gets better. I am sure if this does not happen he will take it and move on or explore other avenues. Also I do not think he feels he is the only player out on the field. He never takes all the credit and always admits it is the team not just him.
Back to the questions!!
1. I think people say they "hate" him because it is easier than really understanding who he really is... think about it "hate" is a word associated with death and if you even go as far to change that and say, "I do not like him". DO you know him? I think not! I would suggest maybe you take a chance and do some research. He has not been accused of rape, animal abuse, drugs, murder, assault, or any other felony. For some reason people(not all) seem to forgive and make excuses for people; bad childhood, under privilege, socioeconomic situations, addiction, poor choices, and the list goes on.
So exactly why do people hate Tebow well I think he makes you feel uncomfortable!!
He makes Christians nervous because maybe they are not living their belief. He makes others nervous because it makes you think "am I on the correct path". Now I understand we all are sinners and it is a constant battle. I also know it is easier to ignore the future and the fact we all answer for and to someone, and this could scare the heck out of people. Better to live in the dark.
Tebow is a constant reminder on those Sunday afternoons as people watch TV the short falls we all face if we really are honest. Now if you are saying this is not true then you might want to really reflect. Because hating is wrong.
BTW- I honestly do not believe God had anything to do with his season other than the fact that God gave him the ability to play football. Life is a series of choices. These men go on the field and make a choice to play with all they have, and some days they win and some days the do not. God only has on team he roots for that would be US. (us not United States LOL)
2. I will never understand this question. When I am at a football game of course I would like my team to win DUH!! I can even recognize a great play when it is not from my team. I do not cheer with a giddy smile I clap and give a compliment. I personally like a game to be a challenge and when it is close that makes it worth the time.
I remember when Tebow was playing in college. It was a big game towards the end of his career. I saw posts on FB hoping he would get injured and never be able to play again. WOW I was shocked. HELLO DA( I am not saying District Attorney) he was just a kid in school playing a game.
Why? Why would you want a young man to be injured so that he never plays again? That is cruel. What if he was your son? How would you feel if one day your child or grandchild had people wishing this... REALLY come on now!!! Have you no soul?
I think wishing failure or harm is just mean and rude. You should be ashamed. I can only say evil is this answer.
3.Tebow is one of the most positive people I have seen in the world of corrupt and trashy reality TV stars(I use that term lightly).
He helps kids, he flew a kid who was injured to watch a game. This is who he is. He has never been any different. I understand if you have not lived in FL that this might seem like a show but honestly he is a really giving person. He has always been this way.
The media has placed him in every home, on every sports channel, and on all the talk radio stations. I think it is because of his faith it make people nervous. People usually displace their fears through cruel words in the hope that some how they look better than what they see in the mirror. Have you looked in the mirror today?
I am originally from TN. I remember all the mean stuff people said about Peyton Manning. Granted yes he is and was a better QB(read the stats). He also was and is a really nice guy. People who had never met him would say mean things and be so rude. I know many people who have met him over the years and nothing but kind words and positive praise have ever been the result. I also know a few people who have met Tim and the result was the same. Please remember that the media, not all venues, but many have an agenda. Don't pplay the corrupt game.
So now #4 He makes you think! You could not be that rude. Hating a person because they are having success. Well think the next time your compny or school has had an oustanding year and people start hoping that your company fails and your school drops to the bottom. You are hoping people lose their jobs? Really!!! You are hoping a large group of students fail. It is like hating an entire college. The college is full of kids!!! Surely you do not hate kids. TEAMS are full of people. To say you are not a fan is fine. To hate, wish ill will, is to hope that families are in ruin. Many of these players have families. Why would you not want the best for all! I certainly hope any person that has a talent is able to live the dream with all the wonderful possibilities.
Please remember we the public have a responsibility to teach our young children not to attack the nice people of the world. We need to set an example. I know Tim is a great role model. Think of the example our kids really have. It is slim pickings!!!
Pittsburgh, Hello your QB he is classy. Farve Hello no one wants to see that!! Michael Vic Dog killer I realize you served your time. The list goes on and people would rather take down someone who has always lived his life in a positive manner. I do not get that at all. I completely understand forgiveness and some of these listed above would fall into that totally.
Tim Tebow is just a kid, a young man playing a game for a living. He of all people knows this is not the most important part of life. He knows this is a gift a privilage. Isn't that what we tell young athletes in school playing sports is a privilage not a right.
I certainly hope that if you have made it this far that you consider your true reasons for the opinions of a man that chances are you have never met. If you have a legitimate reason then fine! But if it is conjecture, then really you need to educate yourself do some research. I have faith in the humanity that seeks truth!!!
Ok the challenge is still on. I am going to train for a 5K and then slowly build to a Half Marathon. Baby steps! LOL
All I can hope is that we all really start thinking about the words we say and how they make sense.
Until next week,
Over and out!!!

Setting a GOAL......
Well now that I have made my realistic resolution list I think setting some sort of goal would be appropriate.
OK honestly I was going to rant on the moral fiber of reality TV shows and the similarities of 1984 to society today but my daughter said, come on Mom stick with a theme and make this fun not so serious. Well ok, I settled down and here we go….
I would like to challenge some of you to SET A GOAL not necessarily my goal but one of your own and keep track of it for the remainder of the year. I will only post the evaluations of mine once a month so that I can blog on other topics. I think when you set a goal you must consider what you would like to accomplish and then make a plan to stay on track. You may also want to have a larger goal that requires small goals in order to achieve the ultimate goal. So this week make your choices as you decide wait until next week to post so that we can share. This could really be fun…
Ok the rules.
Do not go out and buy a bunch of stuff be realistic and use what you have. Now if you are going to run then invest in a good pair of shoes. LOL I would love a running partner.
Don’t spend a bunch of money do you see the theme.
Do something that will make you feel great.
Make sure you set aside time for your goal. I realize our days are jam packed with many activities and kids take a lot of time but maybe dedicating a little space for you is just what is in order.
I really hope you all enjoy this challenge......
Ok an update: Realistic Resolutions!!!!
1. I have not had great success in the cursing arena however when I do I am at least thinking about it!!!
2. Healthy living is great still going strong even though sometimes if feel like I want a cookie!!!
3. Judgments are at a minimum, I cannot change people.
4. Still working on the reading me like a book issue, needs more work!!!
5. My car is so clean. Thank you John!!!
SO THERE WAS PROGRESS!!!!!
Hope you are still keeping those realistic resolutions in mind!!!
Have a great week,
Kristan

The List!!! Please......
Ok I can honestly say I survived last night. Well it was easy because I was with my kids watching the ball drop. Perfect start to the new year.
Now it is down to business. The List of all those crazy ideas, promises, declarations, proclamations, intentions, self improvement, spiritual journeys, finding your purpose, finding yourself, finding that special person, and the list of reasons goes on and on and on.... Until you realize HELLO.... I really need to be realistic, thinking I can really change myself after yes I will say it 42 years of being me. Really change? Not so much.....
1. I am always trying to self improve hello I am alive right.
2. Spiritual journey Get a Bible go to church.. hey here is a thought just talk to the Big Guy..Hi God it is me...there you go simple.
3. Find your purpose.. Geezz your purpose is to live and not over think every detail sometimes stuff just happens. Remember my mantra from last year....What are you in control of truly control of... the answer BTW is YOU!!
4. Finding yourself ok this is mean but get a damn mirror. You can always ask a friend to smack you because that is just stupid.
5. Finding that special person.... OK well not really sure about how to do that sooooo moving on.
Don't make promises or declarations that you can't possibly meet. So this year my list is going to be on going. I figure there are many things I have yet to discover that need my attention.
THE LIST
1. Healthy lifestyle all that applies..not weight loss, not exercise regimens; just do what I know and enjoy.
2. Stop cursing so much... ok I know Mrs. Seiters please don't be mad... it really is only when driving, or riding my bicycle, or if I burn myself, or stump my toe, or I am mad at my crazy neighbor whose dog poops in my yard... ok I am already improving.
3. Try not to be so judgemental I don't think I judge people in the sense most people think. I just expect a lot out of adults. I need to understand that the way I roll (which is the smartest way) is not the way other people roll. I need to stop getting so caught up and realize take it or leave it. Ugh but they really make me so mad.
4. Wash my car every other week.
5. Blog every Sunday.
6. OK THIS IS A BIGGY. I am REALLY going to try and not show my emotions or feelings. Example: when I do not particularly like a person... some how they know! I don't say anything it just shows. I really need to stop this because I know it is not nice. I do like pretty much everyone...but those few that I do not like..well I do have a good reason. I do not like mean people. I do not like it when people make others feel less. So that is usually where my death glare comes into play.
7. - infinity I am just going to leave these open for now.
Well there you have it... My LIST!!! What is on your Realistic Resolution list? Think about it carefully because everyone wants to feel successful. Make your list something that is not difficult start slow. As you reach your goal then you will begin to feel great. This is my theory. You can take it or leave it!!!

New Years Eve.....reflection of 2011
Well I have definitely slept many days since January 1st 2011.... Where to begin... Last year was well.. stressful. I know the view I give most people is..Oh she is so positive and upbeat...She really has it all together..She is strong and happy.
Well that honestly depends on the day of reference. I am all of those including a MESS!!
I actually began a new budget in October of 2010. I have been working diligently to pay down debt and save money. I wanted my Father's help to set up a budget and help me learn how to keep money balanced. I had created bad habits over the course of 4 years and needed to get back on track. I think part of the reason I didn't follow a budget was because my ex owes over 120,000 dollars in back child support. Yes I know...I know... that is a long story to which is best to place in the past. Blood from a turnip mean anything to you?! Any who I have been quit successful with this budget and now can focus on me!
The next part of 2011 was challenging myself to really get back into shape. I have always been a runner and outdoors person. I think between stress of money and work, caused a burn out so this is another reflection to discover this year too. Over my summer break I rode over 500 miles on my bicycle and felt great. I also started to really watch the fuel I placed in my body.
At the beginning of the school year ( I teach High School) I decided to have my mantra as...What are you in control of truly in control of... I can only change me and I am not the parent of these kids. I care too much I am told. In this profession everyday can break your heart. This will also be another interesting blog for sure.
I also had the largest wake up call. My daughter started High school. WOW now this will make great entertainment.
So as the end of the year is upon me I see that I have had a wonderful journey and am ready for the next year. I hope that as I write this blog it will be a journey for me and a reflection for others to see that everyday people not reality shows but the REAL life of people make us learn and grow not the junk on TV.
The next time I write will be next year hope this wasn't too cheesy!! I am ready for an amazing experience.
